Noah had arrived earlier that morning; the sooner he was away from his parents the better. He had already gotten Muffin settled into her new comfy box stall, a stall twice the size of what he was able to afford at home. Muffin was a pasture horse though, she loved staying out all night under the stars. When Noahs parents were drunk and abusisve, when wern't they to be honest, Noah would drive down to the barn, pull his cot out to the meadow where Muffin would be waiting for him at the gate, and sleep out there with her.
From the pasture Noah could hear the new trucks and trailers pulling up. He heard th shrill whinny of what sounded like a cry for attention. Muffin never had to cry like that, Noah burried her in love and affection. She was the only one he had; the only one he trusted. Since everyone avoided Noah, he wasn't too worried.
Noah got down from his perch on the fence and strolled over to where Muffin was happily grazing. She nickered a hello which made a smile cross his face. He often wondered if she knew that doing things like that would awaken the rare smile. He patted her neck when she nuzzled his pockets for treats. "No girl" He chuckled Not right now, later i promise" He stood there a few minutes before desiding to lie down, staring at the sky, finally alone.
